Unlike most people, Guillaume stands up to Anne, and she requests him to be her sole driver as she lands a series of jobs requiring her skills across France, including the capturing of scents in a replication of a Paleolithic cave site in southern France, and blending new scents to mask an objectionable odour delaying the marketing of a new range of luxury handbags (where Guillaume intervenes to double her fee if she can overcome the problem in only 7 days). He is assigned a new client: a gifted perfumer Anne Walberg ( Emmanuelle Devos) whose skills at constructing and identifying scents are matched by her egotism, poor treatment of her drivers, and lack of tact. He needs to keep his job as a chauffeur to pay for somewhere better to live, with room for his daughter. Plot Ī divorced father, Guillaume Favre ( Grégory Montel) is desperate to get shared custody of his daughter. The film premiered at the 2019 Saint-Jean-de-Luz International Film Festival and released in France in July 2020. I'm unlikely to watch it again but I don't regret my decision to see it though.Perfumes ( French: Les Parfums) is a 2019 French comedy film directed by Grégory Magne. Overall, though, it is entertaining and it does grip you into its story. However, one episode is not enough to write off a whole show that consistently strikes a really high tone. There were some hints but not really enough to make it feel really well foretold. I also don't feel like the murderer reveals were that well foreshadowed. I'm not entirely sold if the main character would've actually killed anyone for vanity. I also dislike the ending in that it kinda didn't feel true to their characterisation of the characters. I understand that this may be the tone it was trying to strike but sometimes it was kinda distracting. However, at times, it almost felt overly gritty and bleak.

The tone it strikes is very nordic-detective. My main gripes are with its tone and its ending. It's well-plotted and it does have an engaging story.

I do like this show but I'll readily admit that I'm not too sold on a couple of things that occured.
